On his morning routine.
I’m usually up before 7 am. I always avoid the snooze button and hop out of bed to make myself a batch of coffee, before running off to an early morning workout.
A good BARRY’S fitness class is my personal favorite.
I really try not to touch my phone in the morning before working out except to listen to music. It gives me some time to have a clear head and be present, without immediately thinking about what's on my agenda for the day.
After wrapping up the workout, I’ll take a quick shower before heading into “the office,” which is currently a dedicated room at home while our team navigates COVID.
I aim to prep my to-do’s and priorities the night before so that my day has structure and more or less runs smoothly. I also always make the bed—creating that little morning win feels good.
On imperfect mornings.
When it comes to off-days, clarity makes all the difference.
If I’m not able to start my day off with a go-getter mentality, my mind gets a little cluttered and confused, making my productivity and flow sort of fall apart.
I’ve implemented a pretty standard routine to start a productive day and keep stress low. I love my morning cup of coffee to help knock any fuzziness out of my head and get me going to take on the tasks of the day.
I also take Feals Mints to help calm me down and refocus when I notice my mind starting to wander. I’m obviously biased, but love how quickly they work to get me back in flow throughout the day.
On finding the right dose.
Most people don’t know that cannabinoids affect everyone differently, so it takes a bit of experimenting to learn what works best for you.
We’re on the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding the full functional benefits of the over 100 known cannabinoids, and that body of research and validation will grow immensely over the next 5-10 years.
Until then, it’s all about self-discovery. I’ve found that moderating my daytime dose between 20 and 60 mg of CBD really helps me take the edge off.
In the evening, I push it a little more and take around 120mg before heading to bed. This really helps me wind down to a nice, peaceful state before dozing off.
On mental vs spiritual clarity.
Mental clarity is working smarter and not harder. Think: peak operation, optimizing the day, and focusing on the tasks at hand.
On the other hand, spirituality is finding that sense of purpose. For most of my life, I was searching for purpose and didn’t feel fulfilled or spiritually connected.
Once I found what I was deeply passionate about, everything spiritually clicked.
I now see spiritual clarity as finding peace within yourself, and knowing that you’re contributing to something that truly resonates with your core.
On balancing clarity and tranquility.
Earlier in my career, I was faced with a crossroads between doing the things I was passionate about and doing the things that would make more money. If you’re lucky, those things are down the same path, but it wasn’t the case for me.
I ditched creative advertising, which I loved—and moved to ad tech, which was a fast-paced and exciting industry offering a lot of opportunity for wealth.
I didn’t realize it then, but with that career change, I sacrificed my personal happiness along with the opportunity to feel connected to what I was building.
Today, my passions and career have come together with Feals.
I’ve found the greatest joy and inner peace in knowing the products we’re putting out into the world are helping people in so many ways.
On his perfect day.
The pandemic has really given me a lot of clarity on what my perfect day looks like, especially what I need for a happy and fulfilling work-life balance.
I know that I love interacting with a team, and I also know that I need to carve out time for myself. My formula for a perfect day is just a good mix of work and physical activity.
If I’m taking care of myself, working out, working with my team on inspiring projects, and taking the time to do smaller things, like cooking, or going for a walk, my day is full of joy and gratitude.
On his evening ritual.
I aim to have dinner around 7 pm.
I love going out to dinner, but lately, I’ve really been enjoying being in the kitchen and slowing down from a long day with some music and a good recipe.
While I’m winding down I review my schedule and priorities for the next day and then try to put my phone down for the rest of the night. I'm usually in bed somewhere between 10 and 11 pm, and that's where I like to fit in some personal reading time.
I take CBD supplements a few nights of the week, and they consistently help me quiet my mind and doze off within 15 minutes. I think one of the biggest keys to a successful day is a good night's sleep.
